Brené Brown is a Research Professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past decade studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame.
I discovered her work when I watched her first TED talk ‘The power of vulnerability’ about two years ago. I had read many self-help books before that, but what I found that day was a complete different way of thinking. Let’s speak about your imperfections, about what makes you feel really terrible; we are not going to try to erase them, we are going to change your perception of them.
Thanks to her study of vulnerability and shame, she understands our everyday life in a fascinating way. She made me realise that my imperfections are also my beauty. And believe me, that was a great relief!
« Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage.
Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness. »
